Wheel building: Beginners Dream

Who: If you are curious, have built less than 10 wheels, and are looking to increase

Focus: This class focuses and explores the mechanical process of wheel building.

End Result: Learn the mechanics of wheel building under the guidance of our your understanding of the bicycle. wheel aficionados.

Duration: 3 days (approx. 18 hours).

When:  June 20-22, September 19-21, November 21-23 (When paying for the class please indicate the class date in the “Comments” section)

Cost: $295 when parts are purchased through Sugar and $395 when parts are brought in. Some exceptions apply. Class Max: 5 people.

Design: At least two weeks prior to class date each student will have the opportunity to design their wheels. Parts offered at a 10% discount.

Build: Learn to lace and true your wheels to perfection. Industry tips and tricks make for some fun “Ah-ha” moments. A take home instructional packet is provided.

Wheel building: The Advanced Edition

Who: If you are curious, have built at least 10 wheels or have taken Wheel building 101, or work at a bike shop (not required)

Focus: This class incorporates all of Wheel building 101 with the added benefit of basic wheel theory, measuring, theoretical exploration of lacing patters and spoke material.

End Result: Learn the mechanics and theory of wheel building. Final exam and certificate of completion.

Duration: 5 days (approx. 28 hours).

Cost: $595 when parts are purchased through Sugar and $695 when parts are brought in. Some exceptions apply. Students who have taken Wheel Building 101 receive a 25% discount on this class. Class Max: 5 people.

Who: If you are curious, have built at least 1 alloy wheel or have taken Wheel building 101, or 201 or work at a bike shop (not required)

Focus: Learn to build with carbon

End Result: Learn the mechanics and theory of wheel building.

Duration: 3 days (approx. 18 hours).

Cost: $325 when parts are purchased through Sugar and $525 when parts are brought in.  Some exceptions apply.  Students who have taken Wheel Building 101 or 201 receive a 25% discount on this class.   Class Max:  3 people.

Design: At least two weeks prior to class date each student will have the opportunity to design their wheels.  Parts offered at a 10% discount.

Wheel Maintenence Class

Who: Anyone who owns wheels!   No experience necessary.

Focus: Learn terminology, how to true, and overhaul hubs

End Result: Your wheels are true and overhauled at the end of class

Duration: 2 days (approx. 10 hours).

Cost: $150.   Class Max:  5 people.
